CA Census

Designed, built and maintained by OSaaS, Potter the Otter was the chatbot implemented by the CA Census bureau to attract online visitors to answer the census. This chatbot provided Californians with hundreds of answers to all of the questions about how you can complete the census, the information gathered, and the importance of being part of the enumeration.

Key Outcomes

  • Allowed for the entry of thousands of new census responses.
  • Implemented in over 20 city and country websites throughout California.
  • Increased accessibility by providing information in multiple languages, including Spanish and Tag a log, as well as Interactive Voice Response for people with disabilities.

California Employment Development Department Work Sharing Program

When the COVID-19 pandemic hit in March 2020, the California Employment Development Department got bombarded by an unusually high number of requests from employees for unemployment benefits, and from employers for requests to participate in the Work Share program. Making things worse, both of these programs were built upon legacy systems that had many paper-based processes. The demands of Covid-19 only strained these systems more. It was time for an EDD systems update.

Key Outcomes

  • Increased efficiency in the data entry process as it provided employers with the help information and guided flows to do their portion of the data entry.
  • Increased ability to process a large volume of requests and applications for unemployment benefits.
  • Helped workload management by setting up queues for processing, improves reporting, and consolidates everything into one platform.
  • Since the portal went live, 944 employers have signed up for the program, with more than 46,214 new employees gaining benefits.

California Labor and Workforce Development

With constant changes to county and city rules and regulations regarding COVID-19, the CA Labor and Workforce Development Agency (LWDA) found itself in need of a tool that would gather all relevant information and organize it according to each user’s needs. The solution? The Citizen360 oNavigator.

DMV REAL ID Document Verification

Building a comparable solution customized to the DMV’s needs.
The California DMV was facing the challenge of verifying real documents in a cost-effective and timely manner. The California DMV counted with an existing solution to help customers provide documentation to meet REAL ID requirements. However, this was costly and was not easy to control and expand upon.
